An aerial action anime produced by Group TAC, based on the manga by Kaoru Shintani serialized in Shogakukan's Shonen Big Comic. Set in the oil-rich Middle Eastern nation of Aslan, the story centers on "Area 88," a mercenary fighter squadron. Japanese pilot Shin Kazama, betrayed by his best friend and forced into Area 88, survives the battlefield with exceptional flying skills while holding onto his desire to return to Japan and the woman he loves. Told through the recollections of cameraman Shinjo, the 12-episode series portrays the lives of the fighters at Area 88.
