A martial arts action anime produced by Studio Comet, based on the manga by Masatoshi Kawahara serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine. The series depicts the exploits of successive inheritors of the ultimate fighting style "Mutsu Enmei-ryu" across various eras of Japanese history. Three arcs are adapted: the Sengoku period featuring a duel with Miyamoto Musashi, the Kanei Tournament, and the Bakumatsu era. A 26-episode period action drama highlighted by fierce battle scenes between Mutsu Enmei-ryu practitioners and historical swordsmen.
