A theatrical short from the Toei Anime Fair spring 1991 lineup, based on Tatsuya Egawa's gag manga. The film extends the universe of the popular TV anime, following the hapless elementary schooler Honmaru and his magical servant Taruruuto, a boy from the demon realm whose absurd spells turn every situation upside down. As Honmaru pines for the bright idol-like Iyona, Taruruuto's chaotic interventions spin out into rapid-fire gags and physical comedy, condensing the series' over-the-top humor into a brisk short suited to family audiences during spring vacation. The film became a beloved companion piece to the booming TV series and a representative entry in the Toei spring fair tradition.
