YUKI is a Japanese female singer from Hakodate, Hokkaido. As the vocalist of JUDY AND MARY from 1992 until the band's 2001 split, she played a defining role in Japan's rock scene, then launched her solo career in 2002 with the single "the end of shite." Her 2005 song "JOY" became a turning point that freed her image from "former JUDY AND MARY" and established a distinctive solo sound and aesthetic. She has provided theme songs for anime including "March Comes in like a Lion" and "Dance Dance Danseur," her airy, bouncing pop sensibility winning fans across generations.
