Clementine is a Paris-born French female singer who, raised by a record-collector father immersed in jazz, made her debut in 1988 and established her career in Europe. Her light reinterpretations of classic Japanese anime songs with French and English lyrics, the Animentine series, became major hits and made her a household name in Japan as well. For the theatrical anime Kizumonogatari, based on the novels by Nisio Isin and chief-directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, she performed the ending theme etoile et toi, closing Nekketsu-hen with elegant French-language vocals and stately string arrangements that gave the series' aesthetic worldview its own lingering afterglow.
