SKE48 is a female idol group based in Sakae, Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture, formed in 2008 as a sister group of AKB48. Yasushi Akimoto serves as overall producer. With theater performances as the core of their activities, they have led the idol culture stemming from the Tokai region. Their debut single Tsuyoki Mono yo, with lyrics by Akimoto and music by Koji Ueda, was written for the latter-half ending of Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z-Hen, the robot anime based on Go Nagai's original work. Performed by sixteen selected members, the song brought a new-generation idol freshness to this remake of the classic mecha anime, becoming a hit that reached number five on the Oricon weekly chart.
