1999 Shojo-tai is a reunion unit formed in 1999 by the members of Shojo-tai, the early-1980s idol group celebrated for hits such as FOREVER ~Gingham Check story~ and LADY. The unit brought together original members Reiko Yasuhara, Mieko Ichikawa, and Tomoko Hikita to revisit the group's 1980s catalogue. In anime, they performed the ending theme for Heitaro Daichi's series Jubei-chan: The Ninja Girl, recording a self-cover of their debut Forever ~Gingham Check story~. With Shunichi Tokura's original composition newly arranged by Toshio Masuda, the track wrapped the comedic-yet-bittersweet ninja anime in a nostalgic glow of 1980s idol pop.
