Artist

Naomi Amakata is a singer-songwriter born in Tokyo and raised in Saitama. She got close to band activity in the popular song club at Bunan High School, worked as an office worker, then in 1993 set out on a music career and established a style in which she writes both lyrics and melody herself. In 1996 she debuted on avex trax with 'Aitai Kimi ga Inai', produced by Koji Kubo. In anime, she sang the ending theme 'be alright' for the 1999 'Power Stone' TV anime adapted from the Capcom fighting game, on her own lyrics with composition and arrangement by Koji Kubo; she then provided the opening theme 'suddenly' for the 2003 original anime 'BPS -Battle Programmer Shirase-', writing the lyrics and music as well as singing it, tightening the show's comic yet stylish mood. Drawing on time spent studying jazz and gospel in the United States, she continues to move between work as a singer and as a writer.
