Minako Yoshida is a singer-songwriter who has remained at the forefront since the 1970s, an essential figure in any account of Japanese city pop, renowned for her exceptional vocal work and refined sense of arrangement. She performed the ending theme 'Hachigatsu no Eien' for the TV anime 'Humanoid Monster Bem' (2006), writing the lyrics herself. The music was composed by celebrated jazz guitarist Kazumi Watanabe, and the track was built from a sparse arrangement of guitar, simple rhythm, and Yoshida's multi-tracked vocals and chorus alone.
