"NieR:Automata" is based on the action RPG released by Square Enix in 2017. After an invasion by "machine lifeforms" — weapons sent by aliens — humanity has fled to the moon and organized the "YoRHa" unit of android soldiers to reclaim Earth. The epic story, centered on the battles of YoRHa members 2B and 9S, asks what it means to be human.
The new PV features the mysterious character A2 (voiced by Ayaka Suwa). A pre-broadcast special will air on Aniplex's official YouTube channel on December 11.
Directed by Ryoji Masuyama, series composition by Yoko Taro and Ryoji Masuyama, character design by Jun Nakai, music by MONACA, animation production by A-1 Pictures.
The cast includes Yui Ishikawa as 2B, Natsuki Hanae as 9S, Ayaka Suwa as A2, Hiroki Yasumoto as Pod 042, Kaoru Akiyama as Pod 153, Daisuke Namikawa as Adam, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Eve, Aoi Yuki as Pascal, and Atsumi Tanezaki as Lily.
