■Overview
"Hyakki Yakou Shou" is a manga by Ichiko Ima that began serialization in Asahi Sonorama's Nemuki in 1995 and currently continues in Asahi Shimbun Publications' Nemuki+. With over 7 million copies in circulation, it won the Excellence Award at the 10th Japan Media Arts Festival's manga division.
College student Ritsu Iijima has possessed the mysterious ability to communicate with spirits since childhood. Protecting him from the trouble this power invites is Seiran, a powerful yokai who once served his late grandfather. This supernatural horror-suspense series follows Ritsu and his family as encounters with various yokai draw them into mysterious incidents, with each episode largely self-contained and incorporating mystery elements.
Animation production is by Imagica Infos/Imageworks Studio, directed by Saya Fukase.
