The second volume of 'Sengoku Kitan Youtouden' (Wrath of the Ninja), a supernatural period drama OVA series produced by J.C.STAFF. Set against the dark landscape of the late Edo period, the story unfolds as the Tokugawa shogunate's secret assassin corps confronts the blood-soaked destiny woven by the enchantingly beautiful Oni-hime (Demon Princess) and her companions. Following the parting with comrades depicted in the first volume 'Hagoku no Shou,' the protagonist Kikyou ventures into the Valley of Weeping Demons, plunging into a fierce decisive battle where friend and foe become entangled. Its distinctive world -- forged from the dense, gekiga-style artwork, Japanese horror direction reminiscent of Noh and Kabuki, and a heavy musical score -- commands a presence that stands head and shoulders above other supernatural period dramas of the late-1980s OVA era.
