A TV anime produced by Shin-Ei Animation. Based on Fujiko F. Fujio's national manga Doraemon, this second TV adaptation began airing on TV Asahi on April 2, 1979. Doraemon, a cat-type robot from the 22nd century, comes to live with the clumsy, timid boy Nobita Nobi, producing secret gadgets like the Take-copter and Anywhere Door from his four-dimensional pocket while watching over Nobita's growth amid daily chaos. Differing from the Nippon TV version (1973, 26 episodes) in studio, cast, and target age, this version-with Nobuyo Oyama as Doraemon-became a long-running series spanning 26.5 years until 2005, and was Shin-Ei Animation's first prime-contracted work.
