A TV anime produced by BLADE, based on the light novel by Toru Shirogane published under Dengeki Bunko (KADOKAWA), with original character designs by Mashimasaki. The series won the Grand Prize at the 28th Dengeki Novel Award, selected from 4,411 entries. Set in the labyrinth city "Grey Neighbor," home to the great labyrinth "Thousand White Nights," the story follows Alwin, the "Crimson Princess Knight" who leads the adventurer party "Aegis" to reclaim her fallen kingdom of Mactaroad, and Matthew, her kept man — a former adventurer who secretly operates in the shadows on her behalf. This dark fantasy noir explores their twisted relationship: Alwin pursues her noble goal of national restoration while Matthew, mocked as "Wisecrack" for his sharp tongue, is willing to do any dirty work for her sake. Directed by Chihiro Kumano with series composition by Deko Akao, character design by Hisao Ishii, and music by Taku Iwasaki (The Irregular at Magic High School series).
