Witch on the Holy Night is an anime film produced by ufotable, based on the visual novel of the same name released by TYPE-MOON in 2012. The scenario is written by Kinoko Nasu, with its origins tracing back to an unpublished novel he wrote in 1996. Set in the late 1980s in the provincial city of Misaki, the story follows Soujuurou Shizuki, a boy raised in the mountains with little knowledge of modern life, who meets Aoko Aozaki, a student council president and magician, and Alice Kuonji, known as "the Witch." The three end up living together in a coming-of-age tale of an unworldly boy and two magical girls. This work holds a foundational position within the TYPE-MOON universe, connecting to Tsukihime, Fate, and Kara no Kyoukai.
