A remake depicting Himura Kenshin, a swordsman feared as 'Hitokiri Battousai' during the Bakumatsu period, as he upholds his vow never to kill in the Meiji era while facing evil alongside Kamiya Kaoru and his companions. Featuring beautifully animated visuals that faithfully recreate the original manga's world and dynamic sword-fight choreography, the series serves as the prologue to the grand narrative leading into the Kyoto Disturbance arc. The first cour's opening theme is 'Hiten' by Ayase x R-Shitei, and the ending theme is 'Kissaki' by Reol, while the second cour's opening theme is 'Rurouni no Katashiro' by Suda Masaki x Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, and the ending theme is 'Sonzai Shoumei' by KID PHENOMENON.
