The second cour of the TV anime produced by A-1 Pictures, based on the light novel by Asato Asato published by KADOKAWA's Dengeki Bunko, winner of the Grand Prize at the 23rd Dengeki Novel Award. The series has over 1.3 million copies in circulation (as of June 2021). This 12-episode cour (Episodes 12-23) reveals that Shinei Nouzen and other survivors of the Spearhead Squadron, presumed dead after being abandoned by the Republic of San Magnolia, were rescued by the neighboring Giad Federacy. Under the protection of President Ernst Zimmerman, Shin meets the young princess Frederica Rosenfort and joins the Federacy's military to continue fighting the Legion. Meanwhile, Vladilena Milizé leads the 86th District forces back in the Republic. In the finale, Shin and Lena finally reunite to face the evolving Legion threat together.
