Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash is a theatrical anime film produced by Sunrise. Based on the novel "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash" (3 volumes, 1989-1990) by Yoshiyuki Tomino, published by Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko, this is the first chapter of a planned theatrical trilogy. The novel has surpassed 1.3 million copies in circulation as of 2021. Set in Universal Century 0105, twelve years after the Second Neo Zeon War (Char's Counterattack), the story follows Hathaway Noa (CV: Kensho Ono), who leads the anti-Earth Federation organization "Mafty" against the corrupt Earth Federation Government. His fate changes dramatically through encounters with the mysterious girl Gigi Andalusia (CV: Reina Ueda) and Federation officer Kenneth Slegge (CV: Junichi Suwabe). Directed by Shuko Murase with music by Hiroyuki Sawano. Runtime: 95 minutes. The film earned 2.23 billion yen at the box office, becoming a major hit for the Gundam franchise. Released June 11, 2021.
