A TV anime produced by Production I.G, based on the novel "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" by Yoshiki Tanaka. An NHK broadcast version of the new anime adaptation project "Die Neue These," following the 1988 OVA series. The grand space epic where two geniuses' strategies clash: Reinhard von Lohengramm of the Galactic Empire and Yang Wen-li of the Free Planets Alliance. The NHK version re-edits the theatrically released "Stellar War" arc (episodes 13-24) for TV broadcast. 24 episodes (TV re-edited version), broadcast from April 2020 on NHK E-Tele. Chief director Shunsuke Tada, music by Shin Hashimoto and Yasuhisa Inoue.
