Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai

A TV anime produced by Toei Animation, based on the manga by Riku Sanjo (story), Koji Inada (art), and Yuji Horii (supervision) serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, with over 50 million copies in circulation (as of 2022). Young Dai, the only human raised on Dermline Island among peaceful monsters, meets legendary hero Avan and becomes his disciple. When the Dark Lord Hadlar is revived by the Great Demon King Vearn, Avan sacrifices himself to protect his students.
