A TV anime produced by Production I.G, based on the novel by Shion Miura published by Shinchosha in 2006. The work received the 3rd place at the "Honya Taisho" bookstore award and was nominated for the "Manga Taisho." Set in the "Chikusei-so" student dormitory of Kansei University, this youth sports anime follows Kakeru Kurahara, who possesses extraordinary running talent but has distanced himself from track, and Haiji Kiyose, who dreams of entering their ragtag group of 10 residents in the Hakone Ekiden relay race. Known for its deep thematic exploration of the meaning of running. Main cast includes Takeo Otsuka (Kakeru) and Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Haiji). 23 episodes total.
