Aired: 2009

A TV anime produced by Brains Base, based on the manga by Yuki Midorikawa serialized in Hakusensha's Monthly LaLa, with cumulative sales exceeding 18 million copies (as of 2024). This is the second season following the first series. Takashi Natsume, a boy who has been shunned by those around him due to his ability to see yokai since childhood, spends his days returning the names of yokai written in the "Book of Friends" left behind by his grandmother Reiko, accompanied by his bodyguard yokai Nyanko-sensei. One day, the Book of Friends is stolen by a black Nyanko-sensei look-alike, and Natsume heads to a yokai banquet to retrieve the precious names. The series portrays the warm yet bittersweet story of Natsume as he navigates the world between humans and yokai. Directed by Takahiro Omori with series composition by Sadayuki Murai. The anime aired from January to March 2009 on TV Tokyo and other stations for a total of 13 episodes. ©Yuki Midorikawa, Hakusensha/"Natsume Yuujinchou" Project
