A TV sequel in the Macross franchise, broadcast for 49 episodes on MBS / TBS affiliates from October 1994 to September 1995 and produced by Hero and Ashi Production. In 2045, the Macross 7 fleet en route to the galactic center is attacked by an alien force called the Protodeviln. Basara Nekki, vocalist of the fleet's rock band Fire Bomber, pushes a unique approach to battle: rather than fighting, he sings to change both enemies and allies. Themed around music and love, the series gave the franchise fresh energy with its unconventional hero and passionate musical staging, spawning numerous spin-offs.
