With over 4 million copies in circulation (including digital editions), the series tells the story of Emi, a Japanese college student who dies in an accident and is reincarnated as Remilia Rose Graupner — the villainess of an otome game. Remilia's cold yet beautiful revenge drama, driven by love, earned widespread popularity as "an unprecedented and fresh take on the villainess genre." A manga adaptation by Nazuna Shiraume has also been published.
The teaser PV begins with the childhood of the reincarnated Emi (CV: Rie Takahashi), and then Remilia Rose Graupner (CV: Miyuki Sawashiro), the "one within" her, appears and declares: "In my name... I cannot utter falsehoods such as admitting to crimes that Remilia Rose Graupner never committed."

Congratulatory comments and illustrations have arrived from the original creators — author Makiburo, character designer Mai Murasaki, and manga artist Nazuna Shiraume — as well as from the main staff and cast members.
The series will also be featured at AnimeJapan 2026, held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 28-29, with exhibition at both the KADOKAWA booth and Infinite booth. Postcard distributions, product displays, and merchandise sales are planned.
Additionally, "The One Within the Villainess Exhibition" will be held from June 3 to June 15, 2026 at the Matsuya Ginza 8F Event Square, featuring newly drawn illustrations by Makiburo, Mai Murasaki, and Nazuna Shiraume, famous scene recreations, and original merchandise.
