A TV anime produced by A-1 Pictures, based on the light novel by Asato Asato published by KADOKAWA/Dengeki Bunko, with illustrations by Shirabii. Over 1.3 million copies in circulation (as of 2025). The Republic of San Magnolia claims to fight the autonomous Legion weapons with unmanned drones called "Juggernauts," but in reality, they strip the rights of non-Alba minorities called "Eighty-Six" and send them from the 86th Sector to pilot these "unmanned" machines. Idealistic Handler Vladilena Milizé is assigned to the Spearhead Squadron led by Shinei Nouzen, the "Undertaker," confronting their brutal reality.
